“Run for the Hills”
OT3M x 10
400m Run

WOD Guidance:
Today we have one of the toughest track workouts that you’ll ever do. This workout is well known in the fitness community as it’s one that candidates for the Navy SEAL training program will do with their boat crews, before they leave for full-time training. When those athletes are attempting this workout, their goal is to keep every rep under 90 seconds. While this is a great metric to shoot for, it’s more realistic to try to keep our reps under 2 minutes today. The key to this workout is the idea of repeatability. As we’re doing our runs, we should always be asking ourselves, “could I sustain this pace of the next rep?” If the answer is yes, we’re good to go. If not, we should slow down until we find a pace that we can keep up for all ten rounds. The key to modifying today is finding the appropriate distance to run. Those who aren’t experienced runners may be better off doing 200 or 300 meters as opposed to 400. We’re looking to sprint hard and recover for ten rounds, and we need to choose a distance that allows us to do that.
