Amazing day today to end the week! Front squat 7×1 is one of my all-time favorite rep schemes. Different exercises lend themselves well to different rep schemes, in the context of strength training. If you look at the training of weightlifters, most of their high-rep squatting is done with back squats, and their front squat training is done in the 1-3 rep range. This is because beyond 1-3 reps our ability to front squat is more limited by core strength and front rack stability than leg strength. Today is a good day to build in weight across our 7×1, as we don’t get to do singles very often and we squat so much at TILT that most of us are probably set up to PR on this lift. For our WOD today, we want to pick a weight where we could do 15+ reps unbroken on the front squat when fresh. We can break up the power cleans however we want, but we should non-negotiably be doing the front squats unbroken every round.
